Großgörschen - 30 April to 2 May 2010.

For the opening of the 2010 campaign we united near Großgörschen in the Leipzig area. To be more exact, we had our bivouac at the idyllic pond of another village: Kaja, situated about 2000 m from the main camp at Großgörschen. The reason for our choice was that we wanted to evade the noise of the annual village festival with its modern disco tent, which infested the main camp.

With our habitual grenadiers' charme, we obtained the necessary straw from a kind local peasant woman. Branches and twigs which were lying around everywhere waiting to be gathered, provided the fire wood.

Our aim for the weekend was to refresh our knowlege in the soldier's and peloton's schools, and to learn the formation and movements of the skirmisher chain according to the instructions given by Davout and Reille. Therefore, we drilled a lot, but there was sufficient time left for resting, joking, cooking and passing two wonderful evenings at our camp fire, accompanied by a concert of plenty of bird soloists and a strong frog chorus.

A failed Tournez. It is getting beter. A perfect Conversion. L'Ours and Champagne.
Our first tournez à gauche - marche! was a failure.
But after some practice also the à gauche - conversion! became better and better.
Only the grenadiers L'Ours and Champagne are not yet fully convinced.

Repos. What a serre-file sees. one ... two ... three ...
A short repos and a glance from behind through the ranks.
And on we went with the apprêtez - vos armes !

Eight grenadiers - eight different expressions of the face. Another explanation. Apprêtez - armes (third movement)! Every detail is important. A critical friend of good tobaccos.
Left: Eight different expressions of the face when the drill takes some more time again.
Listening to explanations - executing commands - listening to new explanations.
For a short moment grenadier Champagne was no longer fond of a pipe.

La Chaîne. Portez - armes. Reposez-vous - armes. In the third rank.
Forming the chain of skirmishers. And in the end the execution of all commands was perfect.

The grenadiers are fatigued. The sergent is fatigued as well. Instruction hour. Nothing escapes the eye of the caporal.
Slightly tired but happy:
grenadiers Champagne, Poisson, Pas perdu, Bras de Fer, L'Honnête and caporal Rôtisseur.
Also slightly tired but equally happy: sergent Sans-Souci.
The reason: drill, drill and drill. And the result from this: an excellently drilled unit !

Well-deserved rest. Just escaped from the mud monster. Yes, please ?
Even the sounds of joyous birds and jolly frogs couldn't disturb our short rest.
Grenadier Poisson is happy to have escaped the fangs of
a mud monster, without too much damage inflicted on his right leg.
And the grenadiers L'Ours and Champagne are finally content.
