The 22e régiment d'infanterie de ligne during the 1807 campaign.

In the night from 6th to 7th March 1807, the 22e régiment d'infanterie de ligne stayed overnight in the town Greifswald in Pomerania.

Two short contemporanian descriptions of the regiment by inhabitants of Greifswald have been printed in an article published by Friedrich Barkow and Friedrich Quistorp: "Tagebuch über den Französischen Krieg. Unter Leitung von Prof. Rühs." (Diary about the French war. Under guidance of professor Rühs.), which appeared in the journal Pommersche Geschichtsdenkmäler (Pomeranian history memorials), vol. 6, Greifswald 1889, part II, pp. 14-91 (here: p. 28):

[Greifswald in Pomerania.] The 6th March [1807].

[By the hand of GR Barkow]
[...] Finally, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, the 22nd infantry regiment did arrive here. Their music was very nice, however not as good as the music of the 65th regiment. Amongst the musicians, there were 5 moors [negroes]. The colonel of the regiment stayed once again in the house of the merchant Kaiser. This regiment is nearly the most ugly one I have ever seen, it looks like a band of robbers. The hats are completely squashed and torn, and so are the greatcoats and trousers. The men themselves look emaciated and very hungry and pale.

[Manuscript of the cloth-merchant apprentice Quistorp, from Wismar.]
[...] and at 3 o'clock another 1500 to 1800 infantrymen arrived, of the 22nd regiment, who marched off to Anklam the other morning at 3 o'clock.
